If you want Windows 7 to show hidden files, folders, drives and system files you should know that this is done similar to the way it was done in Windows XP and Vista. This how-to describes just that.
- Open Computer from the Start Menu or from the desktop, press the Alt key on your keyboard then click on the Tools button on the menu-bar that just appeared. If you always want to see the menu bar read this article.
- In the Tools menu click on FolderĀ options.

- In the window that opened click on the View tab.
- Click on Show hidden files, folders or drives.
- Uncheck Hide protected operating system files.
- If you want you can also check Hide extension for known file types so that Windows 7 will display the extensions for all of your files.
- It is also up to you if you want Windows 7 to Hide empty drives in the Computer folder.

- You can now click on OK.
This is all you have to do to view hidden and system files and folders.

Hey I’d like to ask a question.. How can I set the default folder view in My Computer so that it is applied to all folders on my hard disk in one go? Like the default view is Details for each folder. How do I set it to Tiles for all folders in one go?
